The children of the Khor Wakow villages of South Sudan are in desperate need of education.
During two decades of civil war about 2.5 million lives were lost, most of them in Southern Sudan.

Our Mission
Our mission is to support Christ-centered education, health, and humanitarian efforts in the Khor Wakow region and empower its community to identify and pursue improvements that will enhance all aspects of their lives.
Our Vision
The Khor Wakow Project wants to give all children in the Khor Wakow villages, regardless of age or gender, access to education. We recognize that children learn when their physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs are met. KWP will work with community elders, families, and the children themselves to identify ongoing needs to improve their lives and increase their hope and faith.
Our Why
Two decades of unrest and civil war destroyed 2.5 million lives in South Sudan and infrastructure of the villages. Schools are among the institutional casualties leaving children with little option for formal education. As a whole, 64% of children in South Sudan do not attend school and 76% of adults cannot read or write.
It is estimated that over 99% of Khor Wakow’s inhabitants are illiterate. The children who do attend school in this area meet under a tree with classes often cancelled for several months due to prolonged seasonal rains and severe weather. However, children attending “tree school” are minimal. Many factors keep students, especially girls, out of the classroom, including household chores, gender inequality, poverty, and lack of basic resources. Addressing education is fundamental in helping individuals affected by war to rebuild their lives and their country.
While education is the most immediate need, economic and agricultural improvements are also a necessity. Over 21% of children are malnourished; only 34% of the population has access to safe drinking water; maternal mortality is among the highest in the world at 2054/100,000 per live births. The needs are multidimensional, interconnected, and vast, yet some of the solutions are simple and readily achievable.
Statement of Faith
The Khor Wakow Project is committed to providing for the humanitarian and educational needs of the Khor Wakow community in the new nation of South Sudan.
We will provide a biblical Christian education, and we embrace the following truths:

We will provide a biblical Christian education, and we embrace the following truths:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15)
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 10:30)
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 10:33), in His virgin birth (Luke 1:35), in His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), in His miracles (John 2:11), in His vicarious and atoning death (Ephesians 1:7), in His resurrection (John 11:25), in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19), and in His personal return in power and glory. (Revelation 19:11)
- We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential. (John 3:16-19)
- We believe in the present of ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. (Romans 8:13-14)
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those that are saved unto the resurrection of life and those that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:28-29)
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:26-28)
Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.
